Sheep- Are You a Sheep or a Goat?

Are You A Sheep or a Goat?

MAT 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

It should not surprise you to learn that God’s chosen people,(Called Israel in the Bible) constitute the sheep nations, as the Bible says. For example

Psalm 100:3, "We are His people and the sheep of His pasture." Jeremiah 50:6 confirms this. "My people hath been lost sheep: and their shepherds have caused them to go astray." Ezekiel chapter 34 promises, "Behold I, even I, will both search for My sheep and seek them out. As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered, so will I seek out My sheep and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day. * * And as for you, O My flock, thus saith the Lord, behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he-goats."M/B>

Can Goats become sheep? No! Yet, if you listen to most preachers, it sounds like they can.

God called His people “Sheep”.

PSA 74:1 O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?

JER 23:1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.

EZE 34:11 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.

EZE 34:12 As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.

EZE 34:31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord GOD.

A sheep is a sheep by its nature, and it can't become a goat by straying away from the flock. Nor, can a goat become a sheep. The goats run with the flock, but that can't make sheep out of them, you can't make a sheep out of a goat, and Jesus Christ never tried to!! To the contrary, He always taught among them in public using parables, which they could not understand, but Christ explained the parables privately to His disciples who were Israelites (His Elect). He stated His reason for this in Mark 4:11-12,

"Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: that seeing, they may see but not perceive; and hearing, they may hear but not understand: lest at any time they should be converted and their sins be forgiven them." Accordingly, Christ told the Jews in John 10:26-28, "But ye believe not, because ye are not of My sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear My voice."

Jesus Christ spoke of His people as sheep.

MAT 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. MAT 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

JOH 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

JOH 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

JOH 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

JOH 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

God’s people are sheep, were born sheep and were sheep in the plan of God long before the world was formed.

There are many who want to become sheep. Jesus described them as “those who try to climb over the wall” John 10:1. Goats, wolves, and dogs are climbers. They try to get in as sheep, but they are not and cannot become sheep.

He warned His sheep about “wolves”. That is another story. But God also talks about “Goats”. God speaks about wolves, goats, dogs and hogs. None of these are sheep.

One of the problems in churches today is that most Christians, pastors included, want to believe that God can and will make sheep out of goats, dog, hogs and wolves. The Bible is clear that God came in the form of Adam and the seed of Abraham to redeem the “lost sheep” of Adam/Israel only.

MAT 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

MAT 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

LUK 1:54 He hath holpen his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;

LUK 1:68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel;for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

LUK 1:80 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

LUK 2:32 A light to lighten the Gentiles (dispersed Israel) , and the glory of thy people Israel.

He did not come to redeem or save goats, hogs, dogs or wolves. These animals in Scripture represent real people who are different from “sheep”.

DOGS (In this case, Canaanite)

MAT 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

MAT 15:27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

Goats (Again, nations of Cain and Canaanites including Esau’s descendents)

MAT 25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

MAT 25:33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

MAT 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Lost Sheep are still Sheep

LUK 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

We are to seek and rescue the “lost sheep”, not try to convert goats, dogs, hogs and wolves to be sheep. Filling the churches with non-sheep is what has destroyed the church.

Jesus also uses a parable of fishing with a “net” to describe the erroneous process which will be used by the church in the last days.

MAT 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The net is a picture of mass evangelism in any period of time, but it is the last of seven parables corresponding with the seven churches which probably correspond to the last time frame of this era before Christ returns. This mass evangelism and building super churches is the norm for our day.

Jesus says that not all the people (fish) that are gathered into the net (the church or assembly) are good fish (sheep). Some are bad fish (goats, dogs, hogs and wolves) These will be tossed out. All their praying and being baptized and doing of miracles did nothing to make them sheep and no one can enter the kingdom except sheep.

REV 22:15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

MAT 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

MAT 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which inwardly they are ravening wolves.

MAT 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

MAT 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

MAT 15:27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

PHI 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision (the circumcised Jews).

God made it clear that where the sheep went, the goats, dogs, hogs and wolves could not go. Jesus said of the bad fish:

“MAT 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

Goats, hogs, dogs and wolves cannot become sheep and you see them in the churches as the obstinate, willful people who oppose the pastor and the Spirit and the moving forward of the church in its mission to preach the gospel and teach the people of God to obey God’s law.

Sheep are followers. Jesus said

JOH 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Jesus told His Apostles to

“...feed My sheep”.

Pastors are under shepherds.

1PE 5:1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

3 Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Sheep want a pastor, need a pastor and if that pastor is of the Lord, they will follow that pastor. Paul said:

1CO 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Jesus Christ warned all Christians not to try to give the blessings of His kingdom to people who couldn't understand and appreciate it. In Matthew 7:6 He commanded,

"Give not that which is holy unto dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn and rend you".

But, we always have to try and show Him how much better we are than He is, so we always violate His commandments. The pearls Jesus Christ has given us are a kinship to God the Father and the inner dwelling of His wisdom, creativity and power by His Spirit as well as all spiritual healing, forgiveness and gifts.. We cast them before the goats, dogs and hogs of the Bible and. as He warned us, they trample our gifts in the mud of their evil desires. Then, they turn upon us to destroy us. We give that which is holy, our Christian religion, to those who are not sheep and they can no more understand spiritual things than they can astronomical mathematics.

Do you think that we were supposed to convert the entire world? Men have said that, but God has said to the contrary. In John 17:9 Jesus Christ said,

"I pray not for the world, but for them which Thou hast given Me; for they are Thine. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."

Arab, Palestinian, Islamic nations, Russia and China have taken only our manufacturing technology, not our religion or our ideals. They have learned to make tanks, cannon, bombs and bayonets, but the brutal, tyrannical horror they have in their lands is not civilization by any standard. Goats cannot become sheep!

God’s truth is eternal, it never changes with the times and fashions. His word is still true today, as He told the prophet in Amos 3:2,

"You only have I known of all the families of the earth."

It is still true as Isaiah 63:17-19 says,

"Oh God, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways and hardened our hearts from Thy fear: Return, for Thy servant's sake, the tribes of Thy inheritance. The people of Thy holiness have possessed it but a little while. Our adversaries have trodden down Thy sanctuary. We are Thine: Thou never barest rule over them: they were not called by Thy name."

Do you think this will ever change? No, for in the book of Revelation, God has given us a picture of the New Jerusalem, the eternal city of God, coming into existence to last forever. This is after the millennium and He says in

Revelation 21:12 this city is surrounded by "a wall great and high and 12 gates, and names written thereon which are the names of the 12 tribes of the children of Israel."

There is only one way to enter into that city, it is to go in through a gate and the only gates are the 12 tribes of Israel.

Yes, there must be repentance and faith, but eternal life and membership in the Bride is reserved for His Elect.

We are told in Revelation 22:14,

"Blessed are they that do His commandments that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

The two greatest problems we have in the church today is the error of the under shepherds, which are many. But just as defeating and destructive to the church is the fact that churches are filled with every kind of person except the sheep of God.

Are you a sheep or a goat? If you are not a loving and compassionate supporter of those who try to do the work of God, better examine yourself. If you are a goat, you best get out of the church!

Don't apologize for being one of God’s sheep, a citizen of a sheep nation. Be proud of it, be worthy of it and walk, rejoicing obediently in your destiny.
